About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Network Operations Engineer focused on day-to-day production support of our managed IPTV and data center network environments. This role is responsible for ensuring high availability, rapid incident response, and operational stability, working closely with senior engineers for escalation and continuous improvement. Unlike traditional engineering roles, this position is primarily operations-focused, with limited design responsibility and a strong emphasis on incident resolution, monitoring, and service reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support & Incident Management (Primary Focus)
- Monitor network health, performance, and alerts across production environments
- Respond to and resolve L1/L2 network incidents, including circuit issues, routing problems, and operator connectivity
- Perform initial triage, troubleshooting, and escalation for complex issues
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and support maintenance windows
- Coordinate with NOC, Service Engineering, and external operators during outages
Operational Execution
- Execute standard network changes (provisioning, ACLs, routing updates)
- Support circuit turn-ups, VPN provisioning, and operator onboarding
- Validate network changes and ensure proper post-change verification
- Follow and improve runbooks and operational procedures
Monitoring & Reliability
- Work with tools such as SolarWinds, Zabbix, or similar monitoring platforms
- Identify recurring issues and escalate trends for deeper analysis
- Assist in improving alert quality, dashboards, and visibility
Collaboration & Escalation
- Act as L2 escalation point for NOC or L1 support teams
- Partner with Senior Network Engineers on:
- Complex troubleshooting
- Root cause analysis
- Major incidents
- Provide operational input to engineering and project teams
Documentation & Process
- Maintain and improve:
- Network documentation
- Operational procedures
- Incident runbooks
- Contribute to post-incident reviews and process improvements
Required Skills & Experience
Core Skills (Operational Focus)
- Strong understanding of:
- TCP/IP networking fundamentals
- BGP and Multicast routing, and switching (L2/L3)
- Experience troubleshooting:
- Connectivity issues
- Routing problems (BGP/OSPF familiarity preferred)
- Multicast basics
- Familiarity with:
- VPNs, NAT, ACLs
- Circuit provisioning and ISP coordination
Tools & Environment
- Experience with:
- Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Zabbix, etc.)
- Ticketing systems (Jira or similar)
- Ability to use:
- Packet capture tools (tcpdump/Wireshark)
- Basic Linux networking commands
